Johnathan,

In the Lan switching market HP procurve alone has a 30% market share - so
check your facts again... you're also forgetting that most CIO/CTO's would not
answer a survey but quietly buy HP procurve and now many times my biggest
Fortune 1000 Clients are getting Free Dell Switches with their server
purchases as a sweetner... Next up - let's talk about the hundreds of Fortune
2000's (I have several clients in this group also) that ONLY purchase Cisco
from Network Hardware Resellers, Myriad Supply, Ebay, etc.

In fact the ONLY thing my customers seem to buy from Cisco is Smartnet on old
Cisco gear (cause ASA's and 3750's from 2008 still work) and Call Manager
Licensing. We even got a Nexus 7010 from a reseller recently - so trust me
it's a tight time for Cisco - as people like google and facebook give away
free "IT" CIO's and CTO's think this means ALL IT should cost less.

Sorry man. Fact of life

I doubt it with their weak polycom handsets and no support for
acd/contactcenters. Not to mention the hardware required for the
infrastructure is a bit ridiculous and honestly a turnoff. They have years to
go before they even create a reasonable footprint to measure for market
share.

I keep hearing all of this Cisco market share eroding and the question I have
is to who??? HP 9% Juniper 2% Brocade 3% anybody else less than 1%.

I applaud Cisco for protecting their brand and not allowing it free for all,
because it makes the training/certification much more valuable. All the other
vendors have the same approach, so what's the big deal???

Watch out the Microsoft Lync in the next few years. It will wipe out
Cisco,s UC market.

Lync now supports multitenancy, goes to Service providers Domain.
