Very cool, I used to read Tom's Hardware, Sharkyextreme, etc... back in the day when I was a gamer/overclocker. Back to the subject, I was like many juggling a fulltime job, social life, dogs, wife (and on my last 2 attempts a newborn, holy crap that wasn't fun!).

Although in my 20's I led a pretty cool life (fulltime snowboarder, partier, mountain biker and part time IT or card dealer), one of the things I regret was not focusing on the career side of things and just taking a solid 6 months or so and devote it to something like the CCIE. It of course gets more difficult the more things you have to divide your focus on.

And you're right, given the lifestyle you're gonna be living you have PLENTY of time to study and still write blogs. After all, you can only work on tech so many hours a day before it's counterproductive. And you've got the beach, great foods and so on as well.

Writing comes pretty easily to me, so it's not that big of a deal. I
was the Senior Editor of www.tomshardware.com for four years. Plus
many people told me it was a great way to keep my sanity during the
studying.
