If it's something needed/beneficial for a job, then it's not
distracting... I got my CISSP, although that was more to prove a point
to someone than an actual "need", but still... :)
If Mark is looking for a job doing security things, and initially will
involve a lot of management or oversight, then the CISSP and CISM will
likely be necessary anyway. So IF necessary, then I'd look at it from a
time-to-achieve perspective. And those two will be quicker and easier
to achieve than a CCIE would.
If he's looking to be a hands-on engineer, then it's more likely the
CISSP/CISM would NOT be required and therefore not that big of a deal!
Go for CCIE then! :)
