Monitoring and Managing a Switch LAN environment

How can someone proactively monitor Cisco LAN Switches 24 hours a day, seven
days a week?

I looked at RSPAN, but still can't understand how we can monitor switches
which run in 100+ and spanning various sites across MPLS cloud.

Any help will be appreciated.
