search key combination maybe...

Well, it looks like that is still a mystery then.

I will go with Bob Sinclair explanation:
"after the first default refresh on your R2, RIP appears to consider the
source of the default to become internal, not external, and the internal route
has no tag."

Just to add to the above, I did notice yesterday that right after applying the
router-map, I would see the tag on the route for 10sec or so in the debug ip
rip, then after it disappear.
