Congrats on success so far! You are obviously smart as you have found
group study at such a young age. I think you will be one of the
youngest CCIE's if you apply yourself.
As for materials, I think that Vol one from all the above is good. I
think having a full time rack (GNS3, physical, both) really depends on
the resources available. I think the lab is the priority as this is
what you will be graded on now. I spend at least 2 hours a day on CLI.
On weekends this can extend to 8 - ?? hours.
It sounds like Cisco support is your primary role. This will be a big
help. I am the same so I am very comfortable on CLI and very
knowledgeable with much of the blue print just from institutional
leraning. I have ID'd areas that I really didn't know and I vist them
often section by section. I would plan strategy now maybe enjoy a
little break, you have 18 months to prepare. I think I need at least
6 months with 15 + hours dedicated rack time. I am around 600+ hours
into time INE vol 1 and feeling it was well worth it. I know I have
more to go.
I am hitting boot camp doing the 360 ciers2 mock lab. then attending
Cisco Live Sun Tzu with Scott Morris. This all comes at a price tag of
course so there are affordable avenues. Start blogging and host tech
sessions. You will be amazed at the level of audience you can attract.
CCIE's like to see who is about to break ground and they are usually
not shy about commentary.
Anyway hit me up line off line. See what it is like when you are about
2 months out. I am STRESSED!!!! morning - cisco - evening cisco -
weekend- cisco. Not a day goes by that 1400 dollar bill doesn't glare
at me (I attached it to the fridge for motivation!)
