This used to get me too! Once you start playing with address families
everything changes. Of course BGP will assume ipv4 and so show ip bgp
summary won't show adrress family peerings. This is also true for all of the
other families as well.
Sh ip bgp ipv4 uni
Sh ip bgp ipv4 multi
Sh ip bgp vpnv4
Et al
