This might work for you ... but I forget where I put my coffee cup. Not
sure I would remember to revert back to the previous settings ... also, I
might be afraid of a fat finger mistake during the process.

Another way to approach this is to configure the things that take longer
time and then come back to them and check the status. Example is NTP.
Since NTP takes a little while, it may make sense to configure this one
early on, and then come back to it after everything is synced.

Same concept with BGP ... if possible, read through the entire section and
configure those items which take longer than others ...

Just a thought ...

Whatever method you chose, just be sure to practice it every time so that it
is second nature.
