Wireless - autonomous WGB with parent lightweight AP

Hi all,

Disclaimer: I'm not studying for CCIE Wireless - I'm not currently (or
planning to be) a wireless expert :-)

I'm trying to get an autonomous AP (1131AG running IOS 12.4(25d)JA) to
link up with an existing WLC-based wireless LAN. The existing WLAN
consists only of a WLC (a WLC2006 running 4.2.209.0) and one
lightweight AP (another 1131AG running IOS 12.4(10b)JDE) -- it's a
test lab.

Starting with the default 'out of the box' config, I've configured the
autonomous AP as a workgroup-bridge, adding the WPA bits as required
to associate with the existing WLAN. These seems to work fine, on the
surface:

lab-wgb1#sh dot11 associations

802.11 Client Stations on Dot11Radio0:

SSID [LAB] :

MAC Address IP address Device Name Parent
    State
001d.a2c9.9ca0 192.168.22.6 LWAPP-Parent AP001d.a1ec.ab3 -
     Assoc

..however, I sees messages logged every 8 seconds:

%DOT11-4-UPLINK_ESTABLISHED: Interface Dot11Radio0, Associated To AP
AP001d.a1ec.ab3 [None WPAv2 PSK]

..and traffic from the LAN or WLC towards the WGB is forwarded but
nothing seems to come back. I've confirmed that the WGB is seeing and
responding to incoming pings (via 'debug ip icmp') but the sending
host isn't getting the replies. Pings from the WLC aren't working
either.

I found a couple of references online that suggested adding a static
MAC filter on the WLC, so I did that:

Cisco Controller) >show macfilter summary

MAC Filter RADIUS Compatibility mode............. Cisco ACS
MAC Filter Delimiter............................. None

Local Mac Filter Table

MAC Address WLAN Id IP Addr Description
----------------------- -------------- ---------------
--------------------------------
00:06:28:7a:56:e0 1 192.168.22.170 TS
00:1d:a2:7f:ae:92 1 192.168.22.12 lab-wgb1

But all to no avail.

Has anyone made this work before? Autonomous AP providing connectivity
to locally attached wired clients via a wireless link to a
controller-based WLAN.

cheers,
Dale
