I've had issues like that before too....this set of configs on async lines
for reverse telnet to term servers seems to work nice for me...

line 1 16
 exec-timeout 0 0
 no exec
 transport input all
 telnet break-on-ip
 telnet sync-on-break
 telnet ip-on-break
 flowcontrol hardware

... I have this on an old 2511 trm srvr in my lab

Subject: lab console server

Hi Guys,

I have cabled up my lab and I have issues with my access server. I am
wondering if anyone has experienced this problem.

Whenever I power up my lab and try to access the console of each device I
find I have to clear the line multiple times before the connection is
accepted.

It looks like you can't clear a range of lines either and this becomes very
time consuming and annoying.

Any Ideas?

CCIE-LAB(config)#ip host R1 2001 10.0.0.1
