Check the Troubleshooting Remote Access Networks book. These formulas come
from there:
For ANSI or Q933a, the formula is
max DLCIs = (MTU 13) / 5
For Cisco, the formula is
max DLCIs = (MTU 13) / 8

Subject: How many maximum DLCIs ?
Hello All,
When Frame Relay switch sends Full Status Report, every reported DLCI takes
5 bytes in the frame (tested with Wireshark). Assuming MTU of 1500 bytes
less than 300 DLCIs can be reported in each update.
Does it mean that effective maximum number of DLCI available to customer's
router is about 300 ?
