I am sorry too for my wording being obscure.
There is no difference in use. Only different thing is the way you
configure them in IOS.
What I wanted to add is that you can configure ALL ACLs (even numbered
ones) as if they were named ACLs.
i.e.
Router# conf t
Router(config)# ip access-list extended 100
Router(config-ext-nacl)#
...
