Re: DHCP for AVAYA ip Phones

Hi Sameer,

The 4600 uses option 176 and the 9600 uses option 242 which do the same
thing except that you have to specify an HTTP server in option 242. The 4600
also request the Next-server option on the DHCP server and can use that to
find the TFTP server.

The DHCP VLAN option has to be configured on the data VLAN but its is not
neccesary to do the other options as they will be downloaded when the phone
reboots onto the voice VLAN. If you dont specify the Voice VLAN again as
part of the option 176 or 242 on the Voice VLAN subnet the phone will
continually reboot.
