Sir,
I was in your same boat last November!!

Ccnp from 2000 with some other technical certs from MS, checkpoint, Solaris,
Nortel etc... All 10 years old and expired. But over the years I'd gotten
more and more into project management and general IT stuff. My heart was
always routing and security... So in 09 I decided to work my way back to
that. I left my job and stumbled into one of narbicks classes
http://www.micronicstraining.com/

(dumb luck... But very good dumb luck). I had a solid technical base but
at that point (without looking it up) I couldn't write a route map. I took
his class in November of last year (way the F**k over my head.... But he
offers free retakes as many times as you like) he also offers $400 a month
rack rentals for students... I Walked away from class with my tail between
my legs and began doing laps from his workbook. In January I retook the
class in London and understood half of the material (but even understanding
half of Narbik's workbook is an achievement) and by that time I was able to
pick up Cisco contract work (which I recommend as part of any study plan)

In August I retook the class for the 3rd time (all new workbooks for each
class btw) in Delaware. I was starting to get most everything. Then I
retook again in Herndon in September. This time around I was really getting
it. And I sat for the lab 2 weeks ago... (I failed... But I did at least
attempt it...!...) anyway.... There was noting on the lab that was new.
Everything was doable and I could have passed if I had 2 days.... But still
that is a HUGE thing and I credit Narbik.

I have met a ton of great people via Narbik's classes and even though I
never met her, Janet (his wife) is awesome (she is the real brains being
the organization)

Anyway. I will likely take the lab in mid November and again in December if
I fail that... But even w/o the CCIE... I'm a real router guy now.

This past Friday I got a full time job offer with vacation/health and other
benefits from the company I've been contracting for (they have not hired a
full time person in 10 years at my location) but with Narbik's help I've
gone from "unemployment" to 10k/month job in a field I love.... In under 11
months. (and that's w/o the CCIE yet...) more good to come I'm sure

Your results may vary (I'm lazy and "mid life" with 2 young children) you
could perhaps condense my timeframes.

I'm sure other folks could tell similar stories about other vendors that
have done the same. But I happened to stumble into narbiks' class... That
rainy morning last November.

Thanks,

Steve
