On to the question. Seriously. I guess it is a matter of focus. How
badly do you want to be a CCIE? What is your timeline? Milestones? Are
you meeting all your goals on time? If you are, then a little
"recreation" probably won't kill you. However, if it's truly interfering
with your studies then you need to ask yourself how serious you are
about the certification at this time. If you don't have a timeline
already, I suggest you consider setting one set up. You don't have to
hold yourself to it 100% but it will give you a gauge of your progress.
That will help you answer your question below.
