MSTP

Hi

As i read that following should match in MSTP configuration on all switches
:

1) Vlan to instance mapping
2) Name
3) Revision # .

I agree to fact that vlan to instance mapping shd be same for all switches
to have a consistent view of topology .

I do not get the meaning of other 2 parameters ( what is implied by these )
and why these need to be same .

Does matching all 3 items for all switches in MSTP domain .. specific to
cisco or is this standard ( just thnking if this is Cisco's way of
implementing MSTP )
