Mr Naviwala,

You talk about gross apathy, but that is what I'm seeing from you. You call
out Marc, but I only see one e-mail from him on this thread, and all he did
was agree that Roger made a good comment; Roger simply commented that this
was not an on-topic post. I'll agree that Oskar's comment was a bit
colored, but it was only said in jest (at least that's how I took it).

You make a blanket statement that nobody has complained about those topics,
but you're either new to the list, and haven't checked teh archives, or have
a short memory. I checked the archives and find many of those type topics
peppered with complaints, usually unanswered, or the end of the thread. Not
ALL of them, but I'd say nearly half. The fact the complaint is unanswered,
or the last post, tells me the people respected the point the person was
making.

Shahid brings up Merry Christmas, which is not only a religious holiday, but
a secular one as well, but I only find *4* messages for Merry Christmas in
the archives this past year (I didn't bother to look at previous years), and
18 for Happy Holidays which covers more than one religion/holiday and is
both secular and religious. This thread alone is already passing 30 posts.
And in my mid-line knowledge of Islam (I know more than the average
non-practitioner, but less than a practitioner), Ramadan is purely
religious, not at all secular.

And you speak of respecting the sentiment of another, but show no respect
for the simple fact that Roger is right, and whether there are complaints on
other threads or not, the respectful response to being told you broke the
rules is to apologize, and begin following them. No one apologized for the
OT post (though I don't expect it) but have in-fact attacked the person who
pointed it out.

In a time when Islam is widely viewed as a religion of terror because the
extremist groups wear their religion on their sleeve like an ill fitting
garment, we need to be extra respectful if we want people to see Islam as
the religion of peace so many of it's followers believe it to be. Quran
