RE: ISIS - Level-1 Default route through summary address

To advertise the default you need to use the command "default information
originate"

The L1/L2 router doesn't advertise a route to the L1 routers. The L1
routers (if they are L1 only) will generate a default to the closest L1/L2
based on the attached bit in the LSP. The default is chosen by the L1
router. So make sure that your L1 devices are only members of one Area and
that the L1/L2 has that area associated with the interface connected to the
other devices.

Hi Experts,

I am using "Summary-address 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 level-1" command under router
isis to advertise default route in level, but its not working. Is this
supported in IOS. I am using 12.3-T11 on my routers.

*Topology*

 R5----R4-------R1-------R3

 Link between R4 nd R1 is Level-2 only

Link R5R4 and R1----R3 are level-1 only.

 Want to have communication between Level-1 areas. So used Summary-address
0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 level-1 to advertise default route in level-1, but its not
advertising the default route into level-1.Even this default route is not
sent into LSP.
