ASA and IPS

Sorry for asking a stupid ques .. PLease ignore the email if am
sounding like a dumb ( actually i am a dumb in security )

I am looking out to get some hands-on for ASA as well as for IPS ..

For IPS .. I have 2 options .. IOS IPS or 42xx ..
For ASA ; I can do on 5500 series ..

I was just googling arnd and found that if I have 55xx ;device
actually builds upon IPS sensor only ( something called as ASA 5500
IPS edition ).

Can someone please let me know if I can practice IPS ( possibly linux
based env ) on 55xx itself .. ? If yes .. can someone let me know
exact hardware on which i can get both worlds ..
