OT Dark Fiber

Hello Team,
I will be taking my certification for recertification and am happy to
utilize this wonderful group.
Just an OT question for people that use the OC-48 for example Sonet Ring
for example to go through AT&T, to have to pay local loop charges etc, if
you have multiple providers.
Has anyone setup Dark Fiber to have their own equipment just looking to get
feedback from technical cost perspective, and benefits of having your own
mux equipment for example.
