Wow... I guess I know to never get on your bad side or you may lay the smack
down for someone disagreeing with you.

I personally can see the benefit to both Cisco and those that gain the
Emeritus Status. There are always two sides of the coin. And there is
clearly a difference in the benefits of having the "retired" status versus
an active CCIE.

This sounds like a mental illness diagnosis from the DSM 4.

Hmmm... let's see ah, yes

Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD)!!!

1. An exaggerated sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements
and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate
achievements)

See

Now Get your fat Narcissistic ass in a chair and get 80 Points - or go back
to your hamster wheel and burn off those Starbucks caramel macchiatos!!!!

I think it is a way they are hoping to stop the declining numbers. To me it
makes a lot of sense for internal employees that are no longer interested in
taking the tests because of moving on in roles like upper management but
still want to be recognized for their achievements.

Most associations or jobs that require active licenses are going to have a
fee associated with maintaining the rights due to someone having to keep
track of the details.

This is probably a pretty smart move on Cisco's part.

A colleague just told me that is something new about the CCIE program:

http://www.cisco.com/web/learning/le3/ccie/certified_ccies/ccie_emeritus.htm
l

It makes some sense. I just don't understand this requirement:

$85.00 annual fee (subject to change year to year)

They still have to pay ??? Unbelievable.
