Query: Why it responded to initial ping

Its PIM-SM scenario. SW loopback is the RP. RP configured statically.
R6 has source connected.
The group address is 239.1.1.1
When we ping from R6 the group address, the first time -- R4 responds
Subsequent attempts fail.
I understand why the subsequent pings fail.
But I dont understand why the initial pings succeeded.

Can anyone please explain.
