MRTG does this as well? I used to use this for bw monitoring but switched
to cacti because it was more flexible.

Whats up will do inventory on discovery based on snmp and/or WMI if you
buy the right version. It will show name, ip, interfaces, IOS version,
snmp contacts, location, etc.. If you want snmp only and on the cheap,
Denika trial edition. (commercial MRTG).

Yea, I'm trying to avoid scripted SNMP. I thought what's up gold only
does monitoring? I need something to take an inventory using snmp and/or
wmi.

Do you have snmp enabled on these devices? WhatsUpGold or possibly
Denika (www.plixer.com) if so. As for the routes, you will probably have
to use the OID for those and poll via snmp using snmputil or something.

For example, I use it to get IOS, serial numbers, and name via a batch
file. I imagine you could do this and have it output any OID to a file.

C:\Documents and Settings\rroutt>test

C:\Documents and Settings\rroutt>Enter the ip address you would like to
query?192.168.101.230

C:\Documents and Settings\rroutt>snmputil get 192.168.101.230

Does anyone know of a good application to poll a network and provide
information such as device IP's names, routes, system name and IP
address
in a database or even a text file? Trying to avoid brute forcing it
with
python/pearl.

Thanks,

Keegan
