I know how you feel. One option is that if you have that on the lab, leave it working. It is a myth that the proctors reboot the gear before grading. Of course there is a possibility (slim) of losing power between the time you finish and the time of grading.

Another option would be to write an EEM applet or two that could issue a show command, and based on the negative output, remove and replace the sham-link statements.
