That's when you do "clear ip bgp *" in a production network, because
you learned in your CCIE prep. that it's the quickest way to refresh
all BGP routes on your router.
My favorite "experience" was when we were issuing "VLAN Adder"
certificates to NOC and 2nd level tech support guys. That's the one
when you want to add VLAN 50 to a trunk and you do "swi tr all vl 50",
instead of "swi tr all vl ad 50".
Not to mention all L8 skills required to sift through hardware vendor
marketing b/s. Luckily, Greg Ferro teaches cynical insight into that
on his blog (www.etherealmind.com).
Once you go through the minefield of production networking and realize
not everything you learned in school/cert prep really works, then you
can claim experience in your CV.
