I do not see anything really special about fiber. Make sure that fiber types
(sigle/multi) and gbics/sfps types are compatible and that max length is not
exceeded. Messing up can cause no connectivity or worse, intermittent errors
after you leave the site :)

Subject: R/S + Optical site survey
Hello Experts!
I am trying to perform 12 site surveys for deploying Routers and Switches as
a
first task at my new job.
I've done the wireless site surveys in the past and there are tons of
documents
on how to do them exactly, but there is nothing for R/S site survey.
Other then obvious: power, cooling, air flow, available rack space, ease of
access, cabling and wire minding is there anything else I should be looking
at?
I am more concerned with routers and switches that have optical cards in
them.
Are there specific requirements for these types of devices to be deployed in
Data Centers?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
T.
