I don't follow your argument.
The proposed solution wil NOT change anything in your L3 deplyment,
and everything would be just the same. You would only have a L2
SPAN network. Any other way, AFAIK, will put strain in your switches
because your traffic will be processor switched by them.
Your call, but please explain :)
