I run through commands in my head constantly. Most people dream about normal
things like fluffy kittens and ponies, I dream about spanning-tree
convergences and EIGRP <--> OSPF redistribution.
I also make sure to read the books that are recommended. I found out the
hard way that if I don't, I miss something important that was right in the
text but no where else. I believe in over reading and over studying. If I
don't study 10% of a subject, enough questions will come from that subject
to cause me to fail. Your comments caused me to download a copy of the
blueprint and look over it. There is still a lot of stuff I don't know well.
I now have 69 days to study and learn these topics.
I picked my lab date based on my study habits and behavior. If I set the
date 9 months out like Evan, I still wouldn't really study until 4-5 months
out. I would read through books and slowly work towards the goal, but I know
I would not be as far along as I am now. I am a machine once I begin
studying for an exam. I get up at 4-4:30am everyday to give myself time
before my family wakes up and I have to go to work. I keep 1 of the 4 books
I am reading through on my shelf at work so while I am on hold or not busy I
can read. My homepage is the Cisco product support. I write out commands on
a whiteboard while on conference calls. I spout random stuff to co-workers
who will listen because it reinforces the information.
Needless to say I have a lot of strange things I do. They work for me and
they cut down length of my study time.
Remember the shortest distance between two points is a straight line.
