Pay attention, everyone. The OP did not ask if passing the Written for
another (non R&S) track recertifies a CCIE R&S. Poor use of the word
'recertify', maybe.
1. As many have pointed out, despite what we all see on resumes/CVs,
there is no such thing as "CCIE Written" as a certification, so
therefore, *re*certification does not apply.
2. Passing SP Written (or any Written, for that matter) does not
restart the 18 month clock (inside which you must attempt the lab) on
the Written exam validity period.
It's as simple as that.
The only way to 'extend' the validity period of a Written is to
attempt the lab exam. One can potentially extend the validity of the
Written by up to another 18 months this way -- to a total period of 36
months or 3 years.
Of course, if the reason that the Written validity is getting close to
expiry is that the candidate is not yet ready for a lab attempt, it
would be a lot cheaper to re-sit the Written.
There's nothing to see here. Move along. Back to procrastination. End of thread.
cheers,
Dale

certificate/exam policy on GroupStudy is like asking for basket
weaving advice on a Norwegian death metal forum?
