According to Cisco's website, 10ms is minimum Tc - http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk652/tk698/technologies_tech_note09186a00800d6788.shtml#frame_rel_traffic

However, with distributed traffic shaping on the 7500, 4ms is the minimum Tc - http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk543/tk545/technologies_tech_note09186a00800a3a25.shtml

"The range for Tc is between 10 ms and 125 ms. With distributed traffic shaping (DTS) on the Cisco 7500 series, the minimum Tc is 4 ms."

Hope this helps!

Regards,

Nathan Richie

Subject: Tc minimum QoS vs Task working vs Lab

Hi list,

Task: Adjust policy so that Tc is minimum.

For Tc, 4ms, or 10 ms?

Service-policy output: TESTPOL

    Class-map: class-default (match-any)
      1 packets, 24 bytes
5 minute offered rate 0 bps, drop rate 0 bps
      Match: any
      Traffic Shaping
Target/Average Byte Sustain Excess Interval Increment
Rate Limit bits/int bits/int (ms) (bytes)
           512000/512000 512 2048 2048 4 256

Example is INE lab solution guide says 10ms (via setting the Bc) I think 4ms
is less then 10, but 10 is the "optimal" often quoted.

Of course I would ask the proctor but this is playing on my mind, so im
wondering what the group thinks.

Cheers
