A. I use Dell XPS M1330 laptop and running GNS3/Dynamips under Ubuntu
and Windows Vista. There is Core2Duo 2x2.4 CPU, 4GB of RAM, 7200rpm
HDD and GNS3 works smooth on this. The difference between Linux and
Windows is in stability. I can successfully run 14 routers under
Ubuntu while I can only run 6-8 under Windows.

C. Then number of devices depends on the platform and software
requirements. For example you can run less 7200 with 12.4T ADV ENT
software than 2600 with IP Base IOS. For SP I used 7200 with 12.2S and
I can run 10-12 routers under Ubuntu without any problems.

D. No chance for LS1010 emulation, but you can simulate basic ATM
interfaces with virtual ATM switch (again basic functionality, no
advanced config). You cannot simulate AToM and some L2VPNs.

E. I only run my own topology, but it is similar to IPE.

F. Building virtual rack from scratch is a matter of 10min especially
under GNS3. If you want to use Dynamips and play with manually created
NET files, this can take 2hrs and you can make lots of mistakes.
