As time passes there are always people who will disengage from being an
active CCIE for one or another reason. And there will be actually more
of them in the future since more people are passing the lab now than
7-10 years ago. I think the process is quite natural.

I am actually more interested to hear where do the gap numbers go, like
1025 being the first one and publicly saying there are around 20K CCIEs,
with real numbers above 25K... where have them 4K gap numbers gone to? :-)
