I'm sorry to hear about your problems with the lab, but I must say to be
successful in this business you must be able to perform your job with many
distractions. You have to practice tuning the distractions out, it is a
technique all of us have to master. After 20 years in IT I have learned to
shut out all distractions and just hyper focusing - just ask my wife! I
could also tell you many stories but the point is practice. Go somewhere
like a shopping center or other public place and just read, focusing on the
material you are reading. In the IT field you will never have a job where
you are not distracted and interrupted while trying to do three things at
once and if it is something you just can't deal with you should reconsider
working in this field for your own sanity.
