Hi Jack,

The best way to learn vrf-lite is to implement it.
It is quite simple really. It just splits the router into two or more
routing instances.
The interfaces in one vrf do not (for the most part) talk to interfaces in
other vrfs.

Everything behaves on a "per vrf" basis. Be aware however that there is a
default or native vrf.
When interfaces are not placed into a specified vrf, they reside in the
native vrf.

As to your questions on the LSAs, i cannot comment. They almost seem taken
out of context.
Routing protocols work, but only within the vrf in which they are
implemented.

I believe what they are trying to say in your first question is that you can
run OSPF on the PE and have different protocols running on other subints for
connections to other locations.
