I agree with some of this. Have Cisco done their homework on using the
Architect moniker? I know 'real' engineers get cross about this sort of
thing vis-a-vis MCSE and CNE.
All that said, I work with many IT professionals with the 'Architect'
moniker.
It is a Cisco centric thing this I imagine. Funny thing is field
environments are mixed, legacy exists and there are sometimes *better*
choices than Cisco boxes for lots of reasons. So it's a Cisco Architect
rather than a Network Architect qualification. On that note, many CCIE's are
unfamilar with CSS (aka Arrowpoint) configuration. I realise this is not an
'Architect' level diversion but loadbalancing happens and app developers
with increasing disdain for TCP seem to keep on blaiming networks when their
apps fall over. Hopefully it's covered.
