Yes video is encoded, but the throughput between encoder (located in country
A) and streaming server (located in country B) and these two location are
connected through internet bandwidth.
problem with the tcp is:
- tcp is inherently slower than streaming
- throughput affected by tcp window size
- internet makes it worse - delays in ACKs
- pre-session utilization limited
- tcp slow-start and short sessions
- congestion avoidance methods can hurt
if we look on TCP ACKs
1. [client] <------- [server]B B server sends some packets to client
2. [4 packets sent to client] once a pre-determined number is sent, server
stops sending - waits for ACKs of receipt
3. [client] ---------> [server]B client acknowledges the 4 packets from the
server. once receved server can send again. [1 packet sent to server]
B
so potentially a tcp accelerator can have BIG windows and multiple streams.
like I have one site A its windows size is 256kB and there are 2 streams so
total throughput is 9.45Mbits/s
and site B windows size is 64kB and 8 streams total throughput is 26.8Mbits/s
If anyone can more elaborate it, will be more helpful and understandable.

Video is usuallyB encoded/compressed regardless of Streaming (content sent in
compressed form over the Internet and displayed by the viewer in real
time)B OR in any other format.B So these devices will not really add any
value,...just a thought.
