Re: Issues in CCIE lab initial configs

All of the above is good advice. I'd like to add a couple of thoughts.

You have to take into consideration that all errors may not cause an
apparent problem. For instance if you just ran a few ping tests to test
connectivity, you might not see that certain packets are not going the way
they are supposed to, but they would respond.
If there is an ACL that is too permissive, it might not appear to be causing
a problem, but would cost points.

So the bottom line is to fully understand your given topology and then give
it a good look over to ensure the times mentioned above like
IP addresses / subnet masks
Interface types ( point-to-point versus point-to-multipoint )
Incorrect DLCI's or Frame LMI issues
Switch ports creating trunks where they should not be

The areas are far and wide. The only to be prepared for it is to be
prepared. Know and understand common troubleshooting commands ( show, debug,
use logging effectively ).

In my opinion, you will probably find that a lot of the problems that are
induced into the topology are probably things that you might have
inadvertently done while studying ( like making EIGRP links in a different
AS, or BGP links in the wrong areas, fat fingering an IP address / subnet
mask, etc. ).

Everyone that is "ready" for the lab should be confident that they will pass
the troubleshooting section.
