Malik,

Are you in USA? The over all setup is pretty straight forward:

Hardware: Dell 2650 - DUAL 2.4 CPU, 4-GB RAM, 2x 73GB Hard drives in RAID-1
(you may need more storage depending on how many voicemails you want to save
and for how long) - We plan on clustering this server.

Software: Asterisk - Its a linux based open source product.

Network: 3750Gs, 2821, T1 Connection

IP Phones: 7940/7960, we use soft IP phones like "X-lite" for overseas
employees and contractors (middle east, pakistan, europe) as they only
connect during meetings, etc.

2x IP telephony providers (so you will have two trunks on your asterisk
server, probably SIP trunks. Each trunk comes with 4 lines, and we are using
two different providers for each trunk. When you make a call from inside
your network, the call goes over the trunk, and then to the party you are
calling and call from outside comes to your IP telephony provider, over the
trunk to your server)

Initially, asterisk can be a pain in the ass to setup, even with the GUI
interface but we rolled one SIP trunk, test system in about 3 weeks and by
6th week we were on 2nd trunk SIP with phone deployed, people making calls
for business. We will use this system for around 100 users but not all 100
users are going to be online, connected making calls at any given time in a
day.

I can unicast you a diagram of the setup but it looks similar to this:
http://www.voip-info.org/storage/users/755/19755/images/62/Setting%20up%20your%20router-firewall%20so%20Asterisk@Home%20can%20communicate%20with%20a%20VOIP%20Provider%20via%20SIP%20through%20a%20NAT.gif

I had issues running the server/SIP trunks behind a firewall, maybe its NAT
- I don't know but a slightly different setup took care of that problem.

I hope this helps.

Thanks,

Haroon
