Re: OT: VOIP Implementation

I agree with the asterisk suggestion. At my last job, I built an Asterisk
solution from the ground up that ran our internal calls, our call center,
generated reporting data into a database, integrated into our ticketing
application, and handled 15-20 separate IVR applications.

It's VERY powerful as long as you have a programmer and an admin who are
willing to spend time working with the product to get the most out of it.
It's very possible that the money you save on up front costs will be spent
on the backend making it do what you want. However, the end results might
be better.

I would say asterisk is great for smaller shops that are more dynamic and
loose in how they run....bigger companies that are set in a strict
methodology probably wouldn't be happy with that product.

Now if only the asterisk developers would learn how to normalize a database
properly....;(
