Hey Tony,

Sorry to hear about your first attempt, but definitely do not give up now!
Look back at how far you have come up to this point. I would also recommend
the books that the others have talked about, but on top of that, if you feel
you really struggled with the open ended questions, I might go back and flip
through the Routing/Switching Exam Certification Guide 3rd Edition as well.
That is a pretty good book that will brush you up on the theory.

Great decision, Tom. It's one of the books on my required reading list for
all R&S and SP CCIEs and is required reading before they purchase any of our
products, if they haven't already and choose to follow my advice.
Understanding of the technologies is crucial to maximizing the value of you
time in studying for the lab.

That book is an invaluable resource and Beau is amazing: I saw him at Cisco
Live (Networkers) in 2006 and he is an amazing presenter and communicator. I
highly encourage everyone to attend his session if he presents this year or
to obtain the handouts from his presentation as they are the "virtual"
updates to the book. His description of how dating agencies work like
Rendezvous Points is the analogy I happily borrowed for my classes (all
credit given) as it scales remarkably well. If only he was an instructor
full time instead of heading up Cisco's Multicast Development team (last I
heard)...

Hey Mate,

I am half way through Beau Williamson's 'Developing IP Multicast Networks'
and I recommend it if you are unclear on multicast. Its a small text and
once you skip various chapters on DVMRP and MOSPF its even smaller. I find
it easy to read and it has filled in several gaps in the fundamentals you
really should know.

The QoS book Dale suggests is a must read or at least reference it for the
sections you are struggling with.
