It's perspective and placement. With IPv4 unicast OR IPv4 unicast vrf
(whatever) you are still sending 32-bit routes. The placement (main
table vs. vrf table) is a local decision and has nothing to do with what
you are sending.
VPNv4 address family sends an entirely different looking route
advertisement (96 bit info) so it would not line up properly. Just like
you don't bring your 18-wheeler to the automated car wash at the gas
station. While both are vehicles, and both need to be washed, clearly
things don't line up right. :)
