Visual verification. If I see anything in my routing table coming from
FE80::1 I know it came from R1. If I see
FE80:0:0:0:15BA:CFF:FE01:30F3:F9 as the destination, I don't have a clue
where that came from and I have to pause and think. Particularly if I'm
troubleshooting something.
While it may not be required, it's highly (IMHO) recommended to do it!
