As long as your solution meets the requirements, sure. However, I
think it's unlikely that the task (or another, seemingly unrelated
task) didn't, possibly implicitly, require you to use one method over
the other.

You really can't afford not to be completely comfortable with both
methods, if the reason you were asking was because you had a
preference.
