Hey Guys,
I took the exam Recently and Failed due to OEQ and I got 100% in
IP Switching, IP IGP Protocols, IP EGP Protocols and IP Multicast sections.
But Unfortunately I failed. But when i Answered OEQ, If found pretty
confident that, my answer was apt and I justified the question. But,
unfortunately I donno why the result was FAIL and I got 0 in IP CORE
KNOWLEDGE.
I strongly feel, I didn't fail becoz of lack of knowledge but I
couldn't make proctor satisfy with my answers. But, this happened becoz, I'm
a fresher, I started the Journey of CCIE soon after becoming graduate and
passing CCNA in NOV of 2007. I wrote exams like CCNA, CCNP, CCVP and CCIE
Written ( Routing and Switching ). In all the exams, I was asked to answer
in the fashion of MCQ ( Multiple Choice Questions ) where I have always
follow the elimination process. So, I was used to that and was doing well in
that format. But with OEQ it is completely different. It is like I don't
have the choice of looking at the option, but had to construct the answer in
my own words. I did that, while I was answering those questions, I felt that
what I answered was pretty sufficent and I answered all the 4 out of 4
perfectly :D :P. But, I got 0 ! I was puzzled, I donno why it happened in
such a way. I felt that may be, I was not upto the mark in the explanation
in convincing the proctor. But, if those four questions were of MCQ type,
I would have nailed it down with perfection. But again unfortunately those
are of not that kind :D :P. Anyways I want to say something, so that i wrote
this much, but cannot say reflect what I wanna tell you. This is what my
problem is regarding Presentation.
Hope, I'll over come this problem and clear my exam in second
attempt. Unlike many guys, I'm not doing this as my Employer wants me to do,
or it increases my salary etc.., but I'm doing out of my passion. I even
left 2 of my offers ( with KEANE INDIA, INFOSYS ) which I got in campus
placements for CCIE :). Even though it is paining, that I never faced a
failure in my Life and first time I experienced it. I'm not gonna give up.
LETs SEE what is in store for me.
I'M WRITING THIS .. TO MAKE PEOPLE WHO ARE GONNA TAKE TEST
UNDERSTAND, " IT IS NOT A BIG DEAL TO KNOW THE ANSWER, BUT THEY WAY U PUT
THERE IS REALLY IMP. PLEASE DO TOUCH KEY POINTS, AND REVISE TWICE or THRICE
BEFORE U SUBMIT."
And regarding the Weightage of Marks.. What LARRY and ANTHONY mentioned is
absolutely right...
*You have 21 marks for OEQ. i.e. if u answer 3/4 correct out of 4 u'll be
awarded 100% -- 21 or else 0.
and the lab part consists of 79 Marks. so even if you get 100% in the lab
u'll not be passed.
100% in the lab is 79 marks, but you need 80 Marks to pass the lab. *
