When I took my lab - back in February, the proctor in Brussels told me that
there will be many changes in R&S this year, they will go "back to the
roots" and troubleshooting should definitely play a much more important
role.
I think that is very good, furthermore this might help to kick out the
fu***ng cheaters. Troubleshooting is underestimated but in real life
everyone is dealing with it. Furthermore you can learn so much while
troubleshooting, so I think it is great to add that to the CCIE.
We will see what other changes are coming....I'm sure it will be fun :o)

Your Lab
Well if troubleshooting is coming back to the lab - I'd say that is a good
thing. VPN's and MPLS are a given with today's technologies too - so that
is a given.
I can still see Frame hanging around for a while and maybe just being
preconfigured and worth like 0-1 points or something.
Hmm...
Have no fear, I'm not worried about the skiy falling just yet - I ate my
wheaties....and lately spinach too...
