As far as I am aware (and someone correct me if I am wrong)...
VTP transparent mode switches will forward received advertisements if:
- vtp version & domain name in received advertisement matches that of the
vtp trans switch OR
- the vtp version matches but the transparent switch has a NULL vtp
domain
Cisco documentation does/did state that vtp v2 mode does not check vtp
version & domain name but that info needs to be updated...

However if I were you, I'd test this using actual 3550s/3560s to verify the
above operation.
