You need to configure EEK on both sides, and in this example you must
specify the mode appropriately. The send/recv timer, event-window and
error-threshold values, however, do not _need_ to match -- these a
locally significant parameters.
If they don't match, of course, you could find that one end decides
the PVC is down while the other believes that everything is OK. So, in
the real world, I would typically ensure that the values match on both
sides for more deterministic behaviour. An analogy is what can happen
with mismatched hello/hold-time values with EIGRP -- flapping
adjacencies.
If the lab scenario doesn't specify values to be used on both ends, I
would configure both sides, and/or discuss with the proctor.
