Simple Q on Static Route

Does the in-availabilities (unreachable) of a static route 'next-hop'
removed itself from the routing table?

I was exploring using static route as an alternative of IP SLA for
conditional routing, but apparently it fails :-). Static route is still
installed after the next hop is 'shut'.

Just wanted to verify static route behavior.
