Unfortunately, I know at least 3 new CCIE's (23xxx) who could not even
configure something like BGP confed or understand/explain BGP peer groups
that passed in 1st attempt. And I am not talking about perception or being
able to learn quickly. I am talking about people who could not even pass
CCNA if their life depended on it.
My point being, seeing all these ppl with a logo after their name, kinda
makes me feel sad and angry. Here we are spending months if not years trying
to gain enough knowledge to get the coveted CCIE # and when you hear about
such people, it just takes the enthusiasm out of trying to achieve that
status.
I almost gave up on my CCIE studies after hearing about few of these ppl.
Some (and I am NOT exagerating here...) cannot even give you the OSPF LSA
types and functions. The question would how well is Cisco's new open-ended
questions faring... I would have to say Cisco FAILED in their *attempt* to
root out even a small percentage of the cheaters out there..
