I agree with the general consensus that this is a little absurd. I asked an
individual very close to the CCIE program myself. What they said to me was
that it was simply put into place to throw off individuals that are
memorizing mock labs. They just want to make sure the candidate hasn't lost
touch with the theories and principles behind the configurations. In other
words, they found it concerning that there would be CCIE's out there
(regardless of what country) that couldn't explain simple things such as BGP
path selection.
I wholeheartedly agree with the principal behind this. My only "beef" is the
delivery and grading.
